Return to Balance, Intro

Updated: Feb 14

Currently, the collective feels the pressure of the karmic influence of the war in Iraq, the immaturity of our government, global economic instability, and earth changes on the rise. It feels like we are in a pressure cooker and we are, especially if we have not grounded in our bodies and aligned in our highest wisdom. The new moon of October 28th led us full gear into a new world and now in late November 2008, Pluto has made its final movements out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn for the next fifteen years to lead us in a major overhaul and reshaping of the world. And Saturn continues its transit in Virgo forcing us to take a deeper look at our personal and collective unhealed wounds as Uranus opens the spiritual doorway of new and viable pathways for humanity to unite.

The 1960s brought us the conjunction of Uranus and Pluto which began the call to evolve and revolutionize socially, politically, and spiritually. Now, as Uranus and Pluto form into a 90 degree square aspect, they herald an era of extraordinary social, political, and global transformation once again. The conjunction is the starting point of a cycle. The square is the turning point. These squares challenge us now to manifest the visions that were seeded in the 60s, especially for those with mid-degree planets in the signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces

By September 15th, 2008, the Pisces Full Moon forms a T-square with Uranus, the Sun in Virgo, and Pluto in Capricorn. This T-square aspect begins an incremental movement into a cycle of seven exact squares between Uranus and Pluto throughout 2012 and 2015. By late May of 2009 these two planets will be within a 6 degree orb of each other, beginning in earnest the radical transformation needed to awaken the collective. ~Stephanie Austin, Mountain Astrologer August-September 2008, pg. 106

Pressure Cooker

These three planetary bodies, Uranus, Saturn and Pluto, play a significant role in the enfoldment of our progress now, just as they did in the 1960s, and will continue to do so for the next seven years directing the collective to break down old and worn out paradigms for the birthing of a new earth to emerge—with the Sacred Feminine in full power. This emergence will demand men and their Divine Masculine natures to come forth, although the old patriarchal guard will push to hold onto their illusion of dominance and power, operating from fear. Ultimately, together, we have the power to harness our resources and develop new infrastructures and form deep and lasting communities as we build our lives and our livelihoods with the earth and all her kin in mind. Saturn's transit in Virgo (mirroring back to its last pass through Virgo in 1978), opposes Uranus in Pisces (mirroring further back to 1965) and I find myself almost unable to control the excitement and thrill I feel, as the upcoming squares to Pluto break us into new form. I feel as if this is the exact reason I was born, for this juncture in time and space.

If your natal chart harkens to the any of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) and/or the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) whatever you have been cooking up all these years is now ready to find its deepest and most unique pathway into the collective.

To gain more insight of the roles Uranus, Pluto and Saturn played in the 1960s and how they will express in current times let’s look deeper.

Virgo-Pisces Generation, with a Twist

When these planets configured with the centaur Chiron in the 1960's, they generated powerful forces of change, suddenly and significantly shifting the inner and outer structures of life. The civil-rights movements of Black and Native Americans, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, Vietnam, flower power and peace, and sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll all took form within the collective under these astrological influences. The generation of souls who came into form during these times, now adults, carry theses powerful, rare planetary patterns--it's written into their energy bodies, I call this group, the Virgo-Pisces 60's Generation.

The Virgo-Pisces 60’s Generation is astrologically defined by the outer planetary conjunction of Uranus and Pluto in Virgo (1961-1968) opposing Chiron in Pisces (1961-1969). Astrologer Caroline Casey describes this generation in her book, Making the Gods Work for You, …as the first group to come in with an evolutionary wiring; nervous systems the medical community was in no way prepared to deal with, defining these children only as ADD.

This group as a whole carries an intense transformative healing archetypal signature based in the elements of earth and water. Their signatures opened the door for many more generations to come in with higher and higher frequencies. With Chiron intrinsic in their energetic makeup, and intimately aspected in their generational signatures, the force moving through these folks is highly sensitive, electric, and radical. Chiron acts as a bridge to the outer planets of Uranus (electrical transmutation) and Saturn (structure), and since Chiron was not yet discovered, it was not accepted in the collective conscious to embody energetically at the time, making it more challenging for these souls to ground their luminous bodies on the earth plane. Barbara Hand Clow describes Chiron’s nature as “…the how to planet for accessing subtle energies,” in her book Chiron:

It bridges our more physical selves with our more subtle selves… initiates us to help pay attention to our continual transformation (Uranus), our mystical feelings (Neptune), and our incessant karmic push (Pluto). Chiron initiates us on our path by creating the process (Virgo)…Chiron’s tense bridging of Saturn and Uranus explains the Virgoan structure tension that is able to hold so much consciousness, light, and illumination.

Transpersonal Generation

Linked with the later evolutionary stages of the astrological wheel, the outer-planets operate beyond the subjective and slowly establish their trends within the collective mind. Uranus takes us into the realms of transmutation and Pluto dives us deep into the mysteries of transformation, while Chiron teaches us how to bridge these states into physical form (Saturn). The pace which the outer planets travel determines phases of astrological time and defines a collective body of souls commonly termed as the next generation. This is why each generation is different. They are evolving, moving into the next phase of consciousness—manifesting necessary progress. Throughout the sixties, Uranus, the planet of evolution, ingenuity and genius (think Einstein) was in exact conjunction with Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth. These two planets opposed Chiron, the Wounded Healer/Alchemist in the sky--facilitating immense light onto the planet to reveal our collective spiritual wounds (of the Piscean Age), bringing spiritual experiences to an all time high.

The combination of Uranus, Pluto, Chiron and Saturn along with Neptune transiting in Scorpio (1962-1969) created a formula for the collective unconscious to experience an extreme psychic and spiritual wake-up call, or an intense life, one that many experienced, including myself. With their highly refined nervous systems, the Virgo-Pisces 60s Generation (able to process huge amounts of light) and their ancient archetypal signature, many were born into circumstances which either catalyzed them into a deep awakening path, leading them to reach out of the realms of addiction and abuse (Chiron in Pisces, Neptune in Scorpio), chronic blame, somatic illness, hypochondria and victimhood (Virgo-Pisces), or they have remained there. Some souls have not come fully through to the other side of these events due to the depth of the physical and spiritual trauma (Virgo—wounded healer and Pisces) and disillusionment they experienced, including the many Vietnam veterans, and many “hippies” still getting drunk and stoned today.
